Musnad Ahmad 303:10

Isma'il ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, from al-Jurayri, from Abu al-'Ala' ibn al-Shikhkhir, from his father, that he prayed with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and he spat, then rubbed it with his left sandal.
