Hadith 883:9
Muhammad ibn Ja‘far narrated to us, Shu‘bah narrated to us, from Khalid, from Abu Qilabah, from Abu al-Malih, who said: Khalid said: And I think I heard it from Abu al-Malih, from Nubayshah, a man from Hudhayl, one of the companions of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, that he said: "I had forbidden you from the meat of the sacrificial animals beyond three days so that it might suffice you. But God has brought goodness, so eat, store, and trade. And these days are days of eating, drinking, and remembrance of God." A man said: "O Messenger of God, we used to sacrifice an *‘Atirah* (a sacrifice in the month of Rajab) during the Pre-Islamic period, so what do you command us?" He said: "Sacrifice for the sake of God in any month that it may be, be dutiful to God, and feed [others]." Another man said: "O Messenger of God, we used to sacrifice a *Fara‘* (the firstborn of livestock) during the Pre-Islamic period, so what do you command us?" The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: "In every grazing flock of sheep, there is a *Fara‘*; you feed it with your sheep until it is strong enough to be ridden, then you slaughter it and give its meat as charity to the wayfarer, for that is better."
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر، حدثنا شعبة، عن خالد، عن أبي قلابة، عن أبي المليح، قال خالد: وأحسبني قد سمعته من أبي المليح، عن نبيشة، رجل من هذيل من أصحاب النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أنه قال: " إني كنت نهيتكم عن لحوم الأضاحي فوق ثلاث كيما تسعكم، فقد جاء الله بالخير، فكلوا، وادخروا، واتجروا، وإن هذه الأيام أيام أكل، وشرب، وذكر لله فقال رجل: يا رسول الله، إنا كنا نعتر عتيرة في الجاهلية في رجب، فما تأمرنا؟ فقال: " اذبحوا لله في أي شهر ما كان، وبروا الله وأطعموا "، فقال رجل آخر: يا رسول الله، إنا كنا نفرع فرعا في الجاهلية، فما تأمرنا؟ قال: فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " في كل سائمة من الغنم فرع، تغذوه غنمك، حتى إذا استحمل ذبحته، فتصدقت بلحمه، على ابن السبيل، فإن ذلك هو خير "
