Musnad Ahmad 1091:1

'Abd al-Rahman and Bahz narrated to us, they said: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Abu 'Imran al-Jawni—Bahz said: Abu 'Imran al-Jawni informed us—from 'Alqamah ibn 'Abdullah al-Muzani, from Ma'qil ibn Yasar: That 'Umar appointed al-Nu'man ibn Muqarrin [to a command], and he mentioned the hadith. He [al-Nu'man] said: "But I witnessed the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and when he would not fight at the beginning of the day, he would delay the fighting until the sun passed its zenith, the winds blew, and victory descended."
