Hadith of Nu'man ibn Muqarrin (RA)
Hadith 1091:7
Isma'il narrated to us, Hajjaj bin Abi 'Uthman narrated to us, Yahya bin Abi Kathir narrated to us, from Muhammad bin Ibrahim, that Ibn Jabir bin 'Atik narrated to him, from his father, who said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Indeed, among jealousy is that which Allah loves, and among it is that which Allah hates. And among pride is that which Allah loves, and among it is that which Allah hates. As for the jealousy that Allah loves, it is jealousy regarding suspicion (doubtful matters). And the jealousy that Allah hates is jealousy regarding that which is not a matter of suspicion. And the pride that Allah loves is a servant’s pride in himself for the sake of Allah during battle, and his pride when giving charity. And the pride that Allah hates is pride in boasting and arrogance," or as the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said.
