Musnad Ahmad 343:1

'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, he said: Isra'il informed us, from Simak, from 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn 'Abd Allah ibn 'Amr al-Qurashi, he said: One who witnessed the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, narrated to me that he ordered the stoning of a man between Makkah and Madinah. When the stones struck him, he fled. That reached the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and he said: "Why did you not leave him?"
