Hadith of Qatadah ibn al-Nu'man (RA)
Hadith 1225:3
Yunus narrated to us, he said: Layth narrated to us, from Yazid—meaning Ibn al-Had—from Muhammad ibn Ibrahim, that Qatadah ibn al-Nu’man al-Zafari spoke about Quraysh, and it was as if he disparaged them. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "O Qatadah, do not revile Quraysh, for perhaps you will see among them men whose deeds you will deem insignificant compared to their deeds, and whose actions you will deem insignificant compared to their actions, and you will envy them when you see them. Were it not that Quraysh would become arrogant, I would have informed them of what they have with Allah, the Almighty and Majestic." Yazid said: Ja’far ibn Abdullah ibn Aslam heard me while I was narrating this hadith, and he said: "Thus did Asim ibn Umar ibn Qatadah narrate to me, from his father, from his grandfather."
