Musnad Ahmad 87:3

'Abdullah ibn Yazid Abu 'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, Haywah narrated to us, he said: 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn 'Abd al-Malik ibn Mulayl informed me, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Umayyah, that Habib ibn Maslamah came to Qays ibn Sa'd ibn 'Ubadah during the first civil strife (fitnah), while he was on a horse. He (Habib) moved back from the saddle and said: "Ride," but he (Qays) refused. Qays ibn Sa'd said to him: "I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, say: 'The owner of the mount has more right to its front.'" Habib said to him: "I am not ignorant of what the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said, but I fear for you."
