Hadith of Rabah ibn al-Rabi‘ (RA)

Hadith 253:1

Abu ‘Amir ‘Abd al-Malik ibn ‘Amr narrated to us, he said: al-Mughirah ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, from Abu al-Zinad, he said: al-Muraqqa‘ ibn Sayfi narrated to me, from his grandfather Rabah ibn al-Rabi‘, the brother of Hanzalah the Scribe, that he informed him: That he went out with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, on a military expedition he undertook, and Khalid ibn al-Walid was in command of his vanguard. Rabah and the companions of the Messenger of Allah passed by a slain woman, from those whom the vanguard had struck. They stopped looking at her and were amazed at her creation, until the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, caught up to them on his mount. They moved away from her, and the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, stopped over her and said: "This one would not have fought." Then he said to one of them: "Catch up to Khalid and say to him: Do not kill offspring, nor a hired laborer."
