Hadith 481:12
Hashim ibn al-Qasim narrated to us, he said: ‘Ikrimah narrated to us, from Abu al-Najashi, the freed slave of Rafi‘ ibn Khadij, he said: I asked Rafi‘ about the renting of land. I said: "I have land that I rent out." Rafi‘ said: "Do not rent it out for anything, for I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, saying: 'Whoever has land, let him cultivate it, or if he does not cultivate it, let him let his brother cultivate it, and if he does not do so, then let him leave it.'" I said to him: "What do you see if I leave it and my land, and he cultivates it, then he sends me some of the straw?" He said: "Do not take anything from him, not even straw." I said: "I did not stipulate a condition with him; he only gifted me something." He said: "Do not take anything from him."
حدثنا هاشم بن القاسم، قال: حدثنا عكرمة، عن أبي النجاشي، مولى رافع بن خديج، قال: سألت رافعا عن كراء الأرض، قلت: إن لي أرضا أكريها؟ فقال رافع: لا تكرها بشيء، فإني سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول: " من كانت له أرض فليزرعها، فإن لم يزرعها فليزرعها أخاه، فإن لم يفعل فليدعها " قلت له: أرأيت إن تركته وأرضي، فإن زرعها، ثم بعث إلي من التبن؟ قال: " لا تأخذ منه شيئا ولا تبنا " قلت: إني لم أشارطه، إنما أهدى إلي شيئا؟ قال: " لا تأخذ منه شيئا "
