Hadith 481:21
Yunus narrated to us, he said: Hammad—meaning Ibn Zayd—narrated to us, Yahya ibn Sa’id narrated to us, from Bashir ibn Yasar, from Sahl ibn Abi Hathma and Rafi’ ibn Khadij, that ‘Abdullah ibn Sahl and Muhayyisah ibn Mas’ud came to Khaybar for a need of theirs, and they separated. Then ‘Abdullah ibn Sahl was killed, and they found him killed. He said: So Muhayyisah and Huwayyisah, the sons of Mas’ud, came, and ‘Abdur-Rahman ibn Sahl, the brother of the slain man, came, and he was the youngest of them. They came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), and he spoke. The one who was most entitled to the blood began to speak, and these two were older than him. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Let the older one speak, let the older one speak." He said: So they spoke regarding the affair of their companion. He said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Establish your right to your companion—or your slain man—by fifty oaths from among you." They said: "O Messenger of Allah, it is a matter we did not witness, so how can we swear?" He said: "Then the Jews will absolve you by fifty oaths from among them." They said: "They are a disbelieving people." He said: So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) paid the blood money for him from himself. He said: "Then I entered an enclosure of theirs, and a she-camel from those camels that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) had paid as blood money kicked me with its leg."
حدثنا يونس، قال: حدثنا حماد يعني ابن زيد، حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد، عن بشير بن يسار، عن سهل بن أبي حثمة، ورافع بن خديج، أن عبد الله بن سهل ومحيصة بن مسعود أتيا خيبر في حاجة لهما، فتفرقا، فقتل عبد الله بن سهل، ووجدوه قتيلا قال: فجاء محيصة وحويصة ابنا مسعود وجاء عبد الرحمن بن سهل أخو القتيل، وكان أحدثهما، فأتوا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فتكلم، فبدأ الذي أولى بالدم، وكانا هذين أسن. فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " كبر الكبر " قال: فتكلما في أمر صاحبهما، قال: فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " استحقوا صاحبكم أو قتيلكم بأيمان خمسين منكم " قالوا: يا رسول الله ، أمر لم نشهده ، فكيف نحلف؟ قال: " فتبرئكم يهود بخمسين أيمانا منهم " فقالوا: قوم كفار. قال: فوداه رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم من قبله قال: " فدخلت مربدا لهم، فركضتني ناقة من تلك الإبل التي وداها رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم برجلها ركضة "
