Hadith 179:12
Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from Yahya ibn Sa'id, from Muhammad ibn Yahya ibn Habban, who said: A servant of Nu'man al-Ansari stole some small palm trees, so he was brought before Marwan, who intended to cut off his hand. Rafi' ibn Khadij said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The hand is not cut for fruit, nor for the *kathar*." I said to Yahya: "What is the *kathar*?" He said: "The heart of the palm (al-jumar)."
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر، حدثنا شعبة، عن يحيى بن سعيد، عن محمد بن يحيى بن حبان، قال: سرق غلام لنعمان الأنصاري نخلا صغارا، فرفع إلى مروان، فأراد أن يقطعه، فقال رافع بن خديج: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " لا يقطع في الثمر، ولا في الكثر " قال : قلت ليحيى: ما الكثر؟ قال: " الجمار "
