Hadith 179:7
Qutaybah ibn Sa'id narrated to us, he said: 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Muhammad narrated to us, from Rabi'ah ibn Abi 'Abd al-Rahman, from Hanzalah al-Zuraqi, from Rafi' ibn Khadij, that the people used to lease farms during the time of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) for the *madhiyanaat* (the produce of the irrigation channels), what the spring (stream) watered, and a portion of the straw. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) disliked the leasing of farms in this manner and forbade it. Rafi' said: "There is no harm in leasing them for dirhams and dinars."
حدثنا قتيبة بن سعيد، قال: حدثنا عبد العزيز بن محمد، عن ربيعة بن أبي عبد الرحمن، عن حنظلة الزرقي، عن رافع بن خديج، أن الناس كانوا يكرون المزارع في زمان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم بالماذيانات، وما سقى الربيع، وشيء من التبن " فكره رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم كرى المزارع بهذا، ونهى عنها " قال رافع: " لا بأس بكرائها بالدراهم والدنانير " . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
