Hadith 179:8
'Affan narrated to us, Abu al-Ahwas narrated to us, he said: Sa'id ibn Masruq narrated to us, from 'Abayah ibn Rifa'ah, from his grandfather Rafi' ibn Khadij, he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, saying: "Indeed, fever is a puff from the puffs of Hell, so cool it with water."
حدثنا عفان، حدثنا أبو الأحوص، قال: حدثنا سعيد بن مسروق، عن عباية بن رفاعة، عن جده رافع بن خديج، قال: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول: " إن الحمى فور من فور جهنم، فابردوها بالماء "
