Musnad Ahmad 37:13

Yunus narrated to us, Layth—meaning Ibn Sa’d—narrated to us, he said: Al-Rabi’ ibn Sabrah narrated to me, from his father Sabrah al-Juhani, that he said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) gave us permission for *mut’ah* (temporary marriage). He said: So I and a man who was older than me from the companions of the Prophet (ﷺ) set out, and we met a young woman from the tribe of Banu ‘Amir who was like a tall, sturdy young she-camel. We offered ourselves to her, and she said: "What will you offer?" He said: "Each of us offered his cloak." He said: My companion’s cloak was better than mine, but I was younger than him. He said: She began looking at my companion’s cloak, then she said: "You and your cloak are sufficient for me." He said: So I stayed with her for three days. He said: Then the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Whoever has any of the women with whom he contracted *mut’ah*, let him release her." He said: So I parted from her.
