Musnad Ahmad 37:15

Waki’ narrated to us, ‘Abd al-‘Aziz narrated to us, he said: Al-Rabi’ ibn Sabrah al-Juhani informed me, from his father, who said: We went out with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. When we had finished our ‘Umrah, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said to us: "Seek enjoyment (istamti’u) from these women." He said: And "istamti’" (enjoyment) to us meant the day of marriage. He said: So we presented that to the women, but they refused unless we set a term between us and them. He said: So we mentioned that to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and he said: "Do so." He said: So I set out with a cousin of mine, and he had a cloak, and I had a cloak, and his cloak was better than my cloak, but I was younger than him. We came to a woman, and we presented that to her. My youth pleased her, and the cloak of my cousin pleased her. She said: "A cloak like a cloak." He said: So I married her, and the term between me and her was ten [days]. He said: So I spent that night with her, then I woke up in the morning heading to the mosque, and there was the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, between the door and the Hijr, addressing the people. He said: "O people, I had permitted you to seek enjoyment from these women. Behold, Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, has forbidden that until the Day of Resurrection. So whoever has anything of them, let him release her, and do not take anything of what you have given them."
