Hadith 469:1
Sulayman ibn Harb narrated to us, Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from ‘Abd al-Malik Abu Ja‘far, from Abu Nadrah, from Sa‘d ibn al-Atwal, who said: My brother died and left behind three hundred dinars, and he left behind young children. I wanted to spend [the money] on them, but the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to me: "Indeed, your brother is detained by his debt, so go and pay it off on his behalf." He said: So I went and paid it off on his behalf. Then I came and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have paid it off on his behalf, and there is nothing left except for a woman who claims two dinars, but she has no evidence." He said: "Give it to her, for she is truthful."
