Musnad Ahmad 1164:8

'Affan narrated to us, he said: Jarir ibn Hazim narrated to us, he said: Ya'la ibn Hakim narrated to me, from Suhayrah bint Jayfar, that she heard it from her, she said: We performed Hajj, then we returned to Medina, and we entered upon Safiyyah bint Huyayy. We found with her some women from the people of Kufa, and they said to us: "If you wish, you may ask and we will listen, and if you wish, we will ask and you will listen." We said: "You ask." They asked about things concerning the affairs of a woman and her husband, and about the matter of menstruation. Then they asked about the nabidh (fermented drink) of the jar. She said: "You have burdened us much, O people of Iraq, regarding the nabidh of the jar. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, forbade the nabidh of the jar. And what is it to one of you that she cooks her dates, then mashes them, then strains them, then puts them in her waterskin, and ties it up? Then, when it is ready, she drinks and gives it to her husband to drink."
