Hadith of Safwan bin Umayyah (RA)

Hadith 1313:4

Rawh narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Abi Hafsah narrated to us, he said: Al-Zuhri narrated to us, from Safwan ibn Abdullah, from his father, that it was said to Safwan ibn Umayyah ibn Khalaf: "He who does not migrate has perished?" He said: So I said, "I will not reach my family until I come to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace." So I rode my mount and came to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and said: "O Messenger of Allah, they claim that he who does not migrate has perished." He said: "Not at all, Abu Wahb, so return to the lowlands of Makkah." He said: While I was sleeping, a thief came and took my garment from under my head. I caught him and brought him to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and said: "This man stole my garment." He ordered that he be cut. I said: "O Messenger of Allah, this is not what I wanted; it is a charity upon him." He said: "Why not before you brought him to me?"
