Hadith 248:6
Yunus ibn Muhammad and ‘Affan narrated to us, they said: ‘Abd al-Wahid—meaning Ibn Ziyad—narrated to us, he said: ‘Uthman ibn Hakim narrated to us, he said: My grandmother, al-Rabab, narrated to me—and Yunus said in his narration: She said: I heard Sahl ibn Hunayf say: We passed by a flood, so I entered it and bathed in it, and I came out with a fever. That was reported to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), so he said: "Tell Abu Thabit to seek refuge." I said: "O my master, are incantations (ruqyah) valid?" He said: "There is no incantation except for the evil eye (nafs), or a fever (humma), or a sting (ladgha)." ‘Affan said: "The evil eye (nazra), the fever, and the sting."
حدثنا يونس بن محمد، وعفان، قالا: حدثنا عبد الواحد يعني ابن زياد، قال: حدثنا عثمان بن حكيم، قال: حدثتني جدتي الرباب، وقال يونس في حديثه: قالت: سمعت سهل بن حنيف يقول: مررنا بسيل فدخلت فاغتسلت منه، فخرجت محموما، فنمي ذلك إلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقال: " مروا أبا ثابت يتعوذ "، قلت: يا سيدي والرقى صالحة؟ قال: " لا رقية إلا في نفس، أو حمة، أو لدغة " قال عفان: " النظرة،، والحمة واللدغة "
