Hadith 154:1
Yazid ibn Abd Rabbih narrated to us, Baqiyyah ibn al-Walid narrated to us, he said: al-Zubaydi narrated to me, from al-Zuhri, from al-Sa’ib ibn Yazid, that: "There was no storytelling during the time of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, nor during the time of Abu Bakr. The first to tell stories was Tamim al-Dari; he sought permission from Umar ibn al-Khattab to tell stories to the people while standing, so Umar gave him permission."
حدثنا يزيد بن عبد ربه، حدثنا بقية بن الوليد، قال: حدثني الزبيدي، عن الزهري، عن السائب بن يزيد، أنه " لم يكن يقص على عهد رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، ولا أبي بكر، وكان أول من قص تميم الداري، استأذن عمر بن الخطاب أن يقص على الناس قائما فأذن له عمر "
