Hadith 154:4
Makki ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, al-Ja'id narrated to us, from Yazid ibn Khusayfah, from al-Sa'ib ibn Yazid, who said: "We used to have the drunkard brought to us during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and during the leadership of Abu Bakr, and the beginning of the leadership of Umar. We would stand up to him and strike him with our hands, our sandals, and our garments. This continued until the beginning of the leadership of Umar, when he was flogged for it forty times. Then, when they became defiant regarding it and acted corruptly, he was flogged eighty times."
حدثنا مكي بن إبراهيم، حدثنا الجعيد، عن يزيد بن خصيفة، عن السائب بن يزيد، قال: " كنا نؤتى بالشارب في عهد رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، وفي إمرة أبي بكر وصدرا من إمرة عمر، فنقوم إليه فنضربه بأيدينا، ونعالنا، وأرديتنا، حتى كان صدرا من إمرة عمر، فجلد فيها أربعين، حتى إذا عتوا فيها، وفسقوا جلد ثمانين "
