Musnad Ahmad 795:12

'Amr ibn al-Haytham, Abu Dawud, and 'Abd al-Samad narrated to us—the meaning being the same—they said: Hisham informed us, from Qatadah, from al-Hasan, from Jun ibn Qatadah, from Salamah ibn al-Muhabbaq, that the Prophet of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, asked for water from a water skin belonging to a woman. She said: "It is dead [i.e., the skin of a dead animal]." He said: "Have you not tanned it?" She said: "Yes." He said: "Its tanning is its slaughter."
