Hadith of Salamah ibn Salamah ibn Waqsh (RA), from the Prophet (SAW)

Hadith 183:1

Ya'qub narrated to us, he said: My father narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq, he said: Salih ibn Ibrahim ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf narrated to me, from Mahmud ibn Labid, brother of the Banu 'Abd al-Ashhal, from Salamah ibn Salamah ibn Waqsh—and he was one of the companions of Badr—he said: We had a neighbor from the Jews among the Banu 'Abd al-Ashhal. He came out to us one day from his house shortly before the mission of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and stood at the gathering place of the Banu 'Abd al-Ashhal. Salamah said: I was at that time the youngest of them in age, wearing a cloak, lying down in it in the courtyard of my family. He mentioned the resurrection, the Day of Resurrection, the reckoning, the scales, Paradise, and the Fire. He said that to a people who were polytheists, possessors of idols, who did not believe that a resurrection would occur after death. They said to him: "Woe to you, so-and-so! Do you believe this will happen? That people will be resurrected after their death to an abode in which there is Paradise and Fire, in which they will be recompensed for their deeds?" He said: "Yes, by the One by whom he swears, he would wish that he had, for his share of that Fire, the greatest oven in the world, which they would heat up, then put him into it, and close it upon him, if only he could be saved from that Fire tomorrow." They said to him: "Woe to you, and what is the sign of that?" He said: "A prophet who will be sent from the direction of these lands," and he pointed with his hand toward Makkah and Yemen. They said: "And when will you see him?" He said: Then he looked at me, and I was the youngest of them in age, and said: "If this boy lives out his life, he will reach him." Salamah said: By Allah, night and day did not pass until Allah the Exalted sent His Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, while he was alive among us. So we believed in him, and he disbelieved in him out of transgression and envy. We said: "Woe to you, so-and-so! Are you not the one who told us what you told us?" He said: "Yes, but it is not him."
