Hadith 1109:1
Yahya ibn Sa’id narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to me, Mansur narrated to us, from Hilal ibn Yasaf, from a man from the family of Khalid ibn ‘Arfatah, from another who said: I was with Salim ibn ‘Ubayd on a journey, and a man sneezed and said, "Peace be upon you" (as-salamu ‘alaykum). He [Salim] said, "Upon you and upon your mother." Then he traveled on and said, "Perhaps you felt something in yourself?" He said, "Why did you have to mention my mother?" He said, "I could not help but say it. I was with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, on a journey, and a man sneezed and said, 'Peace be upon you' (as-salamu ‘alayk). He said, 'Upon you and upon your mother.'" Then he said, "When one of you sneezes, let him say, 'Praise be to Allah in every state' (al-hamdu lillahi ‘ala kulli hal), or 'Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds' (al-hamdu lillahi rabbil-‘alamin). And let him say to him, 'May Allah have mercy on you all' (yarhamukumullah), or 'May Allah have mercy on you' (yarhamukallah)—Yahya was uncertain—and let him say, 'May Allah forgive me and you.'"
حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد، حدثني سفيان، حدثنا منصور، عن هلال بن يساف، عن رجل، من آل خالد بن عرفطة، عن آخر قال: كنت مع سالم بن عبيد في سفر، فعطس رجل، فقال: السلام عليكم، فقال: عليك وعلى أمك، ثم سار فقال: لعلك وجدت في نفسك؟ قال: ما أردت أن تذكر أمي؟ قال: لم أستطع إلا أن أقولها، كنت مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في سفر، فعطس رجل، فقال: السلام عليك، فقال: " عليك وعلى أمك "، ثم قال: " إذا عطس أحدكم، فليقل الحمد لله على كل حال، أو الحمد لله رب العالمين، وليقل له: يرحمكم الله، أو يرحمك الله، شك يحيى، وليقل: يغفر الله لي ولكم " . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
