Hadith 1089:23
Al-Zubayri Muhammad ibn Abdullah narrated to us, Isra'il narrated to us, from 'Ata' ibn al-Sa'ib, from Abu al-Bakhtari, from Salman: That he reached a fortress or a city, and he said to his companions: "Leave me to invite them as I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, invite them." He said: "I was but a man like you, then Allah guided me to Islam. If you accept Islam, then you shall have what we have, and upon you shall be what is upon us. If you refuse, then pay the Jizya while you are in a state of subjection. If you refuse that, then we shall cast [the treaty] back to you on equal terms; indeed, Allah does not love the treacherous." He would do that with them for three days. When the fourth day came, the people went out to it and conquered it.
حدثنا الزبيري محمد بن عبد الله، حدثنا إسرائيل، عن عطاء بن السائب، عن أبي البختري، عن سلمان: أنه انتهى إلى حصن أو مدينة، فقال لأصحابه: دعوني أدعوهم كما رأيت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يدعوهم، فقال: " إنما كنت رجلا منكم، فهداني الله للإسلام، فإن أسلمتم فلكم ما لنا وعليكم ما علينا، وإن أنتم أبيتم فأدوا الجزية وأنتم صاغرون، فإن أبيتم نابذناكم على سواء، إن الله لا يحب الخائنين، يفعل ذلك بهم ثلاثة أيام، فلما كان اليوم الرابع غدا الناس إليها ففتحوها "
