Hadith 1089:31
'Affan narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, from 'Ata' ibn al-Sa'ib, from Abu al-Bakhtari, that Salman besieged a palace of the palaces of Persia. He said to his companions: "Leave me so that I may do what I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, do." He praised Allah and extolled Him, then said: "I am a man from among you, and Allah has provided me with Islam. You see the obedience of the Arabs; if you accept Islam and migrate to us, then you are in our position—what applies to us applies to you. If you accept Islam and remain in your lands, then you are in the position of the Bedouins—what applies to them applies to you, and what is required of them is required of you. If you refuse and acknowledge the jizya, then you have what the people of the jizya have, and upon you is what is upon the people of the jizya." He offered that to them for three days. Then he said to his companions: "Advance toward them," and he conquered it.
حدثنا عفان، حدثنا حماد، عن عطاء بن السائب، عن أبي البختري، أن سلمان حاصر قصرا من قصور فارس فقال لأصحابه: دعوني حتى أفعل ما رأيت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يفعل: " فحمد الله وأثنى عليه، ثم قال: إني امرؤ منكم، وإن الله رزقني الإسلام، وقد ترون طاعة العرب، فإن أنتم أسلمتم وهاجرتم إلينا، فأنتم بمنزلتنا، يجري عليكم ما يجري علينا، وإن أنتم أسلمتم وأقمتم في دياركم فأنتم بمنزلة الأعراب، يجري لكم ما يجري لهم، ويجري عليكم ما يجري عليهم، فإن أبيتم وأقررتم بالجزية فلكم ما لأهل الجزية، وعليكم ما على أهل الجزية عرض عليهم ذلك ثلاثة أيام "، ثم قال لأصحابه: " انهدوا إليهم ففتحها "
