Hisham ibn Abd al-Malik narrated to us, Abu 'Awanah informed us, and 'Affan narrated to us, Abu 'Awanah narrated to us, 'Abd al-Malik ibn 'Umayr narrated to us, from Husayn, a man from Banu Fazarah, from Samurah ibn Jundub, who said: A Bedouin came to the Prophet of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, while he was delivering a sermon, and he interrupted his sermon. He said: "O Messenger of Allah, what do you say about the dabb (lizard)?" He said: "A nation from the Children of Israel that was transformed, and I do not know which of the beasts they were transformed into."
