Hadith 458:10
Zayd ibn al-Hubab narrated to us, he said: Abd al-Wahid ibn Zayd narrated to me, Ubadah ibn Nasi informed us, from Shaddad ibn Aws, that he wept. It was said to him: "What makes you weep?" He said: "A thing I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, saying, and I remembered it, so it made me weep. I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, say: 'I fear for my nation polytheism and hidden desire.'" I said: "O Messenger of Allah, will your nation commit polytheism after you?" He said: "Yes. As for them, they will not worship the sun, nor the moon, nor a stone, nor an idol, but they will show off with their deeds. And the hidden desire is that one of them wakes up fasting, then a desire from his desires presents itself to him, so he abandons his fast."
حدثنا زيد بن الحباب، قال: حدثني عبد الواحد بن زيد، أخبرنا عبادة بن نسي، عن شداد بن أوس، أنه بكى، فقيل له: ما يبكيك؟ قال: شيئا سمعته من رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقوله، فذكرته، فأبكاني، سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول: " أتخوف على أمتي الشرك، والشهوة الخفية " قال: قلت: يا رسول الله أتشرك أمتك من بعدك؟ " قال: " نعم. قال : أما إنهم لا يعبدون شمسا ولا قمرا ولا حجرا ولا وثنا، ولكن يراءون بأعمالهم، والشهوة الخفية: أن يصبح أحدهم صائما، فتعرض له شهوة من شهواته، فيترك صومه "
