Hadith 458:20
Muhammad ibn Abi ‘Adi narrated to us, Husayn—meaning al-Mu‘allim—narrated to us, from ‘Abdullah ibn Buraydah, from Bashir ibn Ka‘b, from Shaddad ibn Aws, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "The master of seeking forgiveness is: 'O Allah, You are my Lord; there is no god but You. You created me, and I am Your servant, and I am upon Your covenant and Your promise as much as I am able. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have wrought. I acknowledge to You Your favor upon me, and I acknowledge to You my sin, so forgive me, for indeed, none forgives sins except You.'" He said: "Whoever says it when he enters the morning, being certain of it, and dies during his day, he will be among the people of Paradise. And whoever says it when he enters the evening, being certain of it, and dies during his night, he will be among the people of Paradise."
