Musnad Ahmad 1042:1

Yunus narrated to us, Laith narrated to us, from Yazid—meaning Ibn Abi Habib—from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, from Muhammad ibn Talhah ibn Yazid ibn Rukanah, that his maternal aunt, the sister of Mas'ud ibn al-Ajma', narrated to him that her father said to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, regarding the Makhzumite woman who stole a velvet cloak: "Shall we ransom her?"—meaning with forty ounces. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "For her to be purified is better for her." He then commanded her, and her hand was cut off. She was from the Banu 'Abd al-Asad.
