Musnad Ahmad 948:6

Rawh narrated to us, Malik ibn Anas narrated to us, from Yazid ibn Khusayfah, from al-Sa’ib ibn Yazid, that he informed him that he heard Sufyan ibn Abi Zuhayr—and he was a man from Shanu’ah, one of the companions of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace—narrating to people with him at the door of the mosque, saying: I heard the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, saying: "Whoever acquires a dog that does not suffice him for a crop or livestock, a qirat of his deeds decreases every day." He said: "Did you hear this from the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace?" He said: "Yes, and by the Lord of this mosque."
