Musnad Ahmad 696:12

Bahz narrated to us, Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, Zayd ibn Aslam informed us, that Umar ibn al-Khattab said to Suhayb, may Allah be pleased with them both: "Were it not for three traits in you, there would be no fault in you." He said: "And what are they? For by Allah, we do not see you finding fault with anything." He said: "Your taking the kunya (agnomen) of Abu Yahya while you have no child, your claiming to be of the Namir ibn Qasit while you are a man with a speech impediment (al-alkan), and that you do not hold onto wealth." He said: "As for my taking the kunya of Abu Yahya, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, gave me that kunya, so I will not abandon it until I meet him. As for my claiming to be of the Namir ibn Qasit, I am a man from among them, but I was nursed in al-Ubulla, so this speech impediment is from that. And as for the wealth, do you see me spending it except for a rightful cause?"
