Hadith 981:24
Waki’ narrated to us, Ibn Abi Dhi’b narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Qays, from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Yazid, from Thawban, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Who will guarantee one thing for me, and I will guarantee Paradise for him?" I said: "I." He said: "Do not ask people for anything." Thawban would drop his whip while he was riding, and he would not say to anyone, "Hand it to me," until he would dismount and pick it up himself.
حدثنا وكيع، حدثنا ابن أبي ذئب، عن محمد بن قيس، عن عبد الرحمن بن يزيد، عن ثوبان قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " من يتقبل لي بواحدة وأتقبل له بالجنة؟ " قال: قلت: أنا. قال: " لا تسأل الناس شيئا " فكان ثوبان يقع سوطه وهو راكب، فلا يقول لأحد ناولنيه حتى ينزل فيتناوله
