Hadith 981:37
'Abd al-Samad narrated to us, Hammam narrated to us, Yahya narrated to us, Zayd ibn Salam narrated to me, that his grandfather narrated to him, that Abu Asma' narrated to him, that Thawban, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), narrated to him that: The daughter of Hubayrah entered upon the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) while there were rings of gold on her hand, which are called *fatakh*. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) began to strike her hand with a small stick he had with him, saying to her: "Would it please you if Allah were to place rings of fire on your hand?" She went to Fatimah and complained to her about what the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) had done to her. He said: I went along with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), and he stood behind the door; for whenever he sought permission to enter, he would stand behind the door. He said: Fatimah said to her, "Look at this chain which Abu al-Hasan (Ali) gifted to me." He said: And there was a chain of gold in her hand. The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) entered and said: "O Fatimah, would it be just for people to say 'Fatimah, daughter of Muhammad,' while there is a chain of fire on your hand?" Then he scolded her severely, then he went out and did not sit down. So she ordered the chain to be sold, and she bought a slave with its price and set him free. When the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) heard of that, he said "Allahu Akbar" (God is the Greatest) and said: "Praise be to Allah who saved Fatimah from the Fire."
حدثنا عبد الصمد، حدثنا همام، حدثنا يحيى، حدثني زيد بن سلام، أن جده حدثه، أن أبا أسماء حدثه، أن ثوبان مولى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم حدثه أن: ابنة هبيرة دخلت على رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وفي يدها خواتيم من ذهب، يقال لها الفتخ، فجعل رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقرع يدها بعصية معه يقول لها: " أيسرك أن يجعل الله في يدك خواتيم من نار؟ " فأتت فاطمة فشكت إليها ما صنع بها رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: وانطلقت أنا مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فقام خلف الباب، وكان إذا استأذن قام خلف الباب قال: فقالت لها فاطمة: انظري إلى هذه السلسلة التي أهداها إلي أبو حسن. قال: وفي يدها سلسلة من ذهب، فدخل النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال: " يا فاطمة بالعدل أن يقول الناس فاطمة بنت محمد، وفي يدك سلسلة من نار؟ " ثم عذمها عذما شديدا، ثم خرج ولم يقعد، فأمرت بالسلسلة فبيعت فاشترت بثمنها عبدا فأعتقته، فلما سمع بذلك النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم كبر وقال: " الحمد لله الذي نجى فاطمة من النار "
