Hadith 981:44
Muhammad ibn Ubayd narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Ishaq narrated to us, from al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Rahman, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Yazid, Thawban, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), narrated to me, saying: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Who will guarantee one thing for me, and I will guarantee Paradise for him?" He said: I said: "I, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "Do not ask people for anything." He said: So it would happen that Thawban’s whip would fall while he was upon his camel, so he would make it kneel until he took it, and he would not say to anyone: "Hand it to me."
حدثنا محمد بن عبيد، حدثنا محمد بن إسحاق ، عن العباس بن عبد الرحمن، عن عبد الرحمن بن يزيد، حدثني ثوبان مولى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " من يضمن لي واحدة وأضمن له الجنة؟ " قال: قلت : أنا. يا رسول الله. قال: " لا تسأل الناس شيئا " قال: فكان سوط ثوبان يسقط وهو على بعيره فينيخ حتى يأخذه، وما يقول لأحد ناولنيه
