Hadith 981:64
Rawh narrated to us, Marzuq Abu Abdullah al-Shami narrated to us, Sa'id—a man from the people of al-Sham—narrated to us, from Thawban, from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), who said: "If fever afflicts any one of you—and fever is a piece of the Fire—then let him extinguish it from himself with cold water. Let him face a flowing river, facing the flow of the water, and say: 'In the name of Allah. O Allah, heal Your servant and confirm Your Messenger,' after the dawn prayer and before the rising of the sun. Then let him immerse himself in it three times for three days. If he is not healed in three, then five; if he is not healed in five, then seven; and if he is not healed in seven, then nine. For it hardly exceeds nine, by the permission of Allah."
حدثنا روح، حدثنا مرزوق أبو عبد الله الشامي، حدثنا سعيد رجل من أهل الشام، حدثنا ثوبان، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " إذا أصاب أحدكم الحمى، وإن الحمى قطعة من النار، فليطفها عنه بالماء البارد، وليستقبل نهرا جاريا يستقبل جرية الماء فيقول: باسم الله. اللهم اشف عبدك وصدق رسولك بعد صلاة الفجر قبل طلوع الشمس، فيغتمس فيه ثلاث غمسات ثلاثة أيام، فإن لم يبرأ في ثلاث فخمس، فإن لم يبرأ في خمس فسبع، فإن لم يبرأ في سبع فتسع؛ فإنه لا يكاد يجاوز التسع بإذن الله "
