Hadith 981:76
Waki’ narrated to us, ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr ibn Murrah narrated to me, from his father, from Salim ibn Abi al-Ja’d, from Thawban, who said: When that which was revealed regarding silver and gold was revealed, they said: "Then what wealth should we acquire?" ‘Umar said: "I will find that out for you." He said: So he rode his camel and caught up with him [the Prophet], and I was following in his tracks. He said: "O Messenger of Allah, what wealth should we acquire?" He said: "Let one of you acquire a grateful heart, a remembering tongue, and a believing wife who will assist him in the affair of the Hereafter."
حدثنا وكيع، حدثني عبد الله بن عمرو بن مرة، عن أبيه، عن سالم بن أبي الجعد، عن ثوبان قال: لما نزل في الفضة والذهب ما نزل قالوا: فأي المال نتخذ؟ قال عمر: أنا أعلم ذلك لكم. قال: فأوضع على بعير فأدركه، وأنا في أثره فقال: يا رسول الله، أي المال نتخذ؟ قال: " ليتخذ أحدكم قلبا شاكرا، ولسانا ذاكرا، وزوجة تعينه على أمر الآخرة "
