Abdullah narrated to us, Ali ibn Shu'ayb al-Bazzar narrated to us, Ya'qub ibn Ishaq al-Hadrami narrated to us, Abu 'Awanah informed me, from Yazid ibn Abi Ziyad, from 'Isa—and he was the governor of Ar-Raqqah—from 'Ubadah ibn as-Samit, who said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "There is no commander of ten except that he will be brought on the Day of Resurrection with his hand shackled to his neck, until the Truth (Allah) releases him or destroys him. And whoever learns the Quran, then forgets it, will meet Allah as a leper (or one whose limbs are cut off)."
