Musnad Ahmad 1012:122

Abdullah narrated to us, Abd al-Wahid ibn Ghiyath and Ibrahim ibn al-Hajjaj al-Naji narrated to us, they said: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Jabalah ibn Atiyyah, from Yahya ibn al-Walid ibn Ubadah ibn al-Samit, from Ubadah ibn al-Samit, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Whoever goes on a military expedition"—Ibrahim said in his narration: "in the way of Allah"—"and does not intend in his expedition but a hobbling rope, then he shall have what he intended."
