Musnad Ahmad 1012:74

Yahya ibn Adam narrated to us, Ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us, from Haywah and 'Attab. He said: Abdullah narrated to us, Haywah informed us, from 'Umar ibn Malik al-Mu'afiri, that a man from his people informed him that he was present that year at al-Madiq, that 'Ubadah ibn al-Samit informed Mu'awiyah when he asked him about the man who asked the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, for a tether (iqal) before it was distributed. The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Leave him until it is distributed." And 'Attab said: "Until we distribute it, then if you wish, we will give you a tether, and if you wish, we will give you ropes (mirar)."
