Musnad Ahmad 1012:88

Ya'qub narrated to us, my father narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Harith and others of our companions narrated to me, from Sulayman ibn Musa al-Ashdaq, from Makhul, from Abu Umamah al-Bahili, who said: I asked 'Ubadah ibn al-Samit about the *Anfal* (spoils of war). He said: "It was revealed concerning us, the group of the companions of Badr, when we differed regarding the spoils and our conduct regarding it became poor. So Allah took it from our hands and placed it with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, divided it among us equally." He says: "Upon equality."
