Hadith of Umaymah bint Ruqayqah (RA)

Hadith 1170:2

Ya'qub ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, he said: My father narrated to me, from Ibn Ishaq, he said: Muhammad ibn al-Munkadir narrated to me, from Umaymah bint Ruqayqah al-Taymiyyah, she said: I came to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, among a group of Muslim women to pledge allegiance to him. We said: "O Messenger of Allah, we have come to pledge allegiance to you that we will not associate anything with Allah, nor steal, nor commit adultery, nor kill our children, nor bring forth a slander that we fabricate between our hands and our feet, nor disobey you in what is good." She said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "Insofar as you are able and have the strength." She said: We said: "Allah and His Messenger are more merciful to us than our own selves. Accept our pledge, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "Go, for I have accepted your pledge. My word to a hundred women is just like my word to a single woman." She said: And the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, did not shake hands with any woman among us.
