The Hadith of Umm Atiyyah al-Ansariyyah, whose name is Nusaybah (RA)

Hadith 1250:11

'Affan narrated to us, he said: 'Abd al-Wahid ibn Ziyad narrated to us, he said: 'Asim al-Ahwal narrated to us, from Hafsa bint Sirin, from Umm 'Atiyyah, who said: "We pledged allegiance to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and he took from us, among what he took, that we should not wail." A woman from the Ansar said: "The family of so-and-so helped me in my grief during the pre-Islamic period (Jahiliyyah), and they have a funeral, so I will not pledge allegiance to you until I help them in their grief as they helped me." She said: "It was as if the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, agreed with her on that. So she went and helped them in their grief, then returned and pledged allegiance to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace." She said: Umm 'Atiyyah said: "None of our women fulfilled [the pledge] except that one, and Umm Sulaym bint Milhan."
