Hadith of Umm Hani bint Abi Talib (RA), whose name is Fakhitah.
حديث أم هانئ بنت ms5122 أبي طالب رضي الله عنها واسمها فاختة
Hadith 1166:23
Muhammad ibn Ja‘far narrated to us, he said: Shu‘bah narrated to us, from Ja‘dah, from Umm Hani’, and she is his grandmother, that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) entered upon her on the day of the Conquest. A drink was brought to him, so he drank, then he handed it to me. I said: "I am fasting." The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "The one performing a voluntary act is the commander of himself; so if you wish, fast, and if you wish, break your fast."
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر، قال: حدثنا شعبة، عن جعدة، عن أم هانئ، وهي جدته، أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم دخل عليها يوم الفتح، فأتي بشراب ، فشرب، ثم ناولني، فقلت: إني صائمة، فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " إن المتطوع أمير على نفسه ، فإن شئت فصومي، وإن شئت فأفطري "
