Hadith of Umm Ishaq (RA), the freed slave of Umm Hakim (RA)

Hadith 1188:1

'Abd al-Samad narrated to us, he said: Bashshar ibn 'Abd al-Malik narrated to us, he said: Umm Hakim bint Dinar narrated to me, from her mistress Umm Ishaq, that she was with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and a bowl of tharid (bread soaked in broth) was brought. She ate with him, and Dhu al-Yadayn was with him. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) handed her a bone with meat on it and said, "O Umm Ishaq, take from this." I mentioned that I was fasting, so my hand became cold; I would neither advance it nor withdraw it. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "What is the matter with you?" She said, "I was fasting and I forgot." Dhu al-Yadayn said, "Now, after you have eaten your fill?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Complete your fast, for it is only a provision that Allah has driven to you."

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
