Musnad Ahmad 1244:0

Narrated Umm Kulthum bint Uqbah, the mother of Humayd ibn Abd al-Rahman: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: "The liar is not the one who reconciles between people, so he speaks good or conveys good." She said: And I did not hear him grant a concession in anything of what people say as a lie, except in three: in war, in reconciling between people, and the speech of a man to his wife and the speech of a woman to her husband.
