Musnad Ahmad 1168:5

'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, he said: Ma'mar narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from 'Ubayd Allah ibn 'Abd Allah ibn 'Utbah, from Umm Qays bint Mihsan al-Asadiyyah, the sister of 'Ukkashah, who said: I came with a son of mine for whom I had performed *al-'alaq* (tonsillectomy/throat cauterization), fearing that he had *al-'udrah* (tonsillitis). The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Why do you hurt your children with these *'ala'iq* (throat constrictions/cauterizations)? You should use this Indian wood (al-'ud al-hindi), meaning *al-qust* (costus), for it contains seven cures, among them is pleurisy." Then the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, took her young boy and placed him in his lap. The boy urinated on him, so he called for water and sprinkled it over it, and the boy had not yet reached the age of eating food. Al-Zuhri said: "The Sunnah has passed that the urine of a boy is to be sprinkled (with water), and the urine of a girl is to be washed." Al-Zuhri said: "So it is used as a nasal snuff for *al-'udrah* (tonsillitis), and it is administered orally for pleurisy."
