Hadith of Umm Salamah (RA), the wife of the Prophet (SAW)

Hadith 1156:158

'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ma'mar narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from Abu Bakr ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Harith ibn Hisham, who said: I heard Abu Hurayrah saying: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever reaches the morning in a state of janabah (major ritual impurity), there is no fast for him." He said: So I and my father set off and entered upon Umm Salamah and 'Aishah, and we asked them about that. They informed us that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to reach the morning in a state of janabah, without having had a wet dream, and then he would fast. We then met Abu Hurayrah, and my father told him [what they had said]. The face of Abu Hurayrah changed color, then he said: "That is how al-Fadl ibn 'Abbas narrated it to me, and they (the wives of the Prophet) are more knowledgeable."
