'Abd al-Samad and Harami—the meaning being the same—said: Hisham narrated to us, from Qatadah, from Abu al-Khalil, from a companion of his, from Umm Salamah, that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "There will be disagreement at the death of a Caliph. A man from the people of Medina will emerge, fleeing to Mecca. Some of the people of Mecca will come to him and bring him out against his will, and they will pledge allegiance to him between the Corner and the Station. An army will be sent against them from Syria, and they will be swallowed up by the earth in the desert (al-Bayda'). When the people see that, the Abdal (substitutes/saints) of Syria and the Asa'ib (groups) of Iraq will come to him and pledge allegiance to him. Then a man from Quraysh will arise, whose maternal uncles are from Kalb. He will send an expedition against the Meccan, and they (the Meccan's forces) will overcome them. That is the expedition of Kalb, and disappointment is for the one who does not witness the spoils of Kalb. He will distribute the wealth and act among the people according to the Sunnah of their Prophet (ﷺ), and Islam will cast its weight upon the earth. He will remain for nine years." Harami said: "Or seven."
