Hadith of Umm Salamah (RA), the wife of the Prophet (SAW)

Hadith 1156:23

Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, Hisham ibn 'Urwah narrated to us, from his father, from Zaynab bint Abi Salamah, from Umm Salamah, who said: Umm Habibah came to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and said: "O Messenger of Allah, would you like to marry my sister?" He said: "And what would I do with her?" She said: "Marry her." The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said to her: "And do you like that?" She said: "Yes, I am not the only one for you, and the most deserving person to share in the good with me is my sister." The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "Indeed, she is not lawful for me." She said: "By Allah, it has reached me that you are proposing to Durrah, the daughter of Umm Salamah bint Abi Salamah." The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "Even if she were lawful for me, I would not have married her. Thuwaybah, the freed slave woman of Banu Hashim, nursed me and her father. So do not present your sisters or your daughters to me."
